ENSCO International is well-ensconced as a leading offshore drilling contractor. The company owns a fleet of 46 offshore rigs, including 43 jack-ups, one barge rig, and two ultra-deepwater semisubmersible (capable of drilling in up to 8,500 ft. of water). ENSCO conducts most of its drilling business in the Asia/Pacific region (which includes Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand). It also drills in Europe, Africa, and North and South America, and has a dedicated deepwater drilling unit. In 2008, some 19 of its rigs were operating in the Asia/Pacific region.
