Champion Enterprises is constantly jostling to be the #1 builder of manufactured homes in the US, along with rival Palm Harbor. The company sells about 11,000 homes annually. It mainly produces single-family ranch-style homes, but it also makes townhouses, duplexes, and steel-framed modular buildings for commercial use. Sizes range from 400 sq. ft. to 4,000 sq. ft. and retail prices of the homes range from $25,000 to more than $200,000 (averaging $160,000). Champion operates some 30 plants in North American and the UK. Homes are sold through 14 company-owned retail centers in California and through about 1,200 independent retailers, including 725 Champion Home Centers.
