Haemonetics helps health care providers hold on to blood. The company develops and produces blood recovery systems that automate the collection of blood products from donors. Its donor systems allow blood banks to collect and process whole blood, taking only the components (such as plasma or red blood cells) that they might need. Haemonetics also makes systems that collect and re-infuse a patient's own blood during surgery; these surgical blood salvage systems are sold under the OrthoPAT, cardioPAT, and Cell Saver brand names by its patient division. Additionally, the company sells information management software and provides consulting services to blood banks and hospitals.
