AMC Entertainment shines when the lights go down. The #2 movie theater chain in the US (behind Regal), the company owns more than 375 theaters housing some 5,300 screens, most of which are in megaplexes (units with more than 14 screens and stadium seating). Its theaters can be found throughout the US, Canada, Europe, Mexico, and Latin America. The firm is part owner (more than 25%) of MovieTickets.com, along with Hollywood Media and rivals Cineplex Entertainmant and National Amusements, among others. The company bought rival Loews Cineplex in 2006, significantly boosting its holdings. After flirting with going public only to reconsider, AMC in 2007 again filed an IPO.
