Medical laser maker Candela has the answer to those pesky alcohol-induced tattoos. The firm offers laser systems used for tattoo removal, treatment of dermal abnormalities (birthmarks), and other aesthetic and cosmetic procedures. Products include AlexTrivantage to remove lesions and tattoos; Vbeam for vascular lesions and leg and facial veins; and Smoothbeam, for treatment of acne and acne scarring. Candela sells to cosmetic and surgical markets through a direct sales force and distributors in the US and abroad. Syneron is acquiring Candela in a deal worth about $65 million. CEO Gerard Puorro will join Syneron's board of directors after the acquisition. He will be replaced by Syneron's CEO, Louis Scafuri.
