The road to just about everywhere is paved with Vulcan Materials' aggregates. The company is the largest producer of construction aggregates -- crushed stone, gravel, and sand -- in the US. Vulcan produces and distributes aggregates, asphalt mixes, ready-mixed concrete, and cement at more than 400 production plants in the US (primarily the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic) and Mexico. A majority of its aggregates are used to build and maintain highways, bridges, and other public works systems; they're also used in residential, commercial, and industrial building construction. Aggregates account for about 60% of Vulcan Materials' sales.
