Kid Brands looked the gift horse in the mouth and said "No thanks." The company, best known for its plush collectible bears, sold its gifts business in 2008 to focus on products for the youngest consumers: newborns to 2-year-olds. In September 2009, the manufacturer and marketer also changed its name from Russ Berrie and Company to Kid Brands. The company sells infant bedding and furniture, as well as related nursery accessories. It also peddles infant-development toys and teething, feeding, and bath and baby care products. Kid Brands' subsidiaries include Sassy, Kids Line, LaJobi, and CoCaLo. The late Russell Berrie founded the business in 1963.
