Safety-Kleen has recycled itself, successfully recovering from bankruptcy. Through its Safety-Kleen Systems subsidiary, it provides industrial waste management services for local auto shops, government agencies, and large corporations across North America. It is the largest recovery and recycling company for used-oil products in the US, refining more than 200 million gallons annually; it also operates more than 200 service and recycling centers seving more than 330,000 customer locations in the US, Canada, and Mexico, and it licenses its operations across Asia. Three venture capital groups and JPMorgan Chase own 69% of the company, which filed to go public in 2008 to fund its expansion strategies.
