In the Garden State, Public Service Enterprise Group's (PSEG) diversified business model has it smelling like a rose. Regulated subsidiary Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) transmits and distributes electricity to 2.1 million customers and natural gas to 1.7 million customers in New Jersey. Nonregulated subsidiary PSEG Power operates PSEG's generating plants. PSEG Power's 13,600-MW generating capacity comes mostly from nuclear and fossil-fueled plants in the US Northeast. Other operations (under PSEG Energy Holdings) include energy infrastructure investments and wholesale energy marketing. The company also invests in overseas independent power plants and distribution systems.
