This land is my land, that land is your land, and LandAmerica used to insure the titles that proved it. Once a leading US title insurance company, LandAmerica has sold off its title insurance underwriters and now provides credit reporting, property inspection, appraisal, closing and escrow, buyers warranties, and real estate tax services. LandAmerica's financial services unit consists of Centennial Bank, which provides real estate loans in Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada. LandAmerica has been suffering from the US housing market collapse; the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection shortly after its agreement to be acquired by rival Fidelity National was canceled in late 2008.
