A New Jersey resource that predates Bruce Springsteen and the Nets -- natural gas is the main product of New Jersey Resources (NJR). The holding company's New Jersey Natural Gas utility unit distributes gas to 480,000 residential and business customers in the state. Its 13,400 miles of gas mains handle distribution and transmission, and two LNG plants supply peak demand. Nonregulated subsidiary NJR Energy Services, which accounts for more than half of NJR's sales, provides wholesale gas supply, transportation, and storage services to customers from the Gulf Coast to New England. Other units provide appliance repair and plumbing services and develop commercial real estate.
