One of the country's largest faith-based hospital systems, not-for-profit Adventist Health System runs about 40 hospitals and 15 nursing homes, as well as more than 20 home health care agencies. Its acute care hospitals have more than 6,300 beds combined, and its long-term care facilities offer more than 2,000 beds. While it operates in 10 states (mostly in the South and Midwest), Florida is a key market: The organization's Florida division includes 17 hospitals located throughout the state, with the seven-campus Florida Hospital serving Central Florida via more than 1,400 beds. The health system is sponsored by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church as part of that denomination's legacy of providing health care.
