Adventist Health's mission is to serve the community, and boy does it! One of the country's largest faith-based hospital systems, not-for-profit Adventist Health System runs about 40 hospitals and some 20 nursing homes, as well as nearly 30 home health care agencies. Its acute care hospitals have more than 6,500 beds combined, and its long-term care facilities offer just about 2,000 beds. It operates in 12 states mostly in the Southwest, but Florida is its key market. The organization's Florida Hospital division includes 17 hospitals serving the state via more than 1,400 beds. The health system is sponsored by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church as part of that denomination's legacy of providing health care.
