Adena Health System hopes to be an Eden for those seeking health care. The system serves the residents of an eight-county region in southern Ohio centered on the city of Chillicothe. Its main facility is the 245-bed Adena Regional Medical Center, which provides general medical and surgical care, as well as specialty care in a number of areas, including cardiology, women's health, oncology, and rehabilitation. The health system also features outpatient clinics, surgery centers, medical office buildings, and a counseling center, among other facilities. The history of the Adena Health System goes back to 1895, when a group of local women established an emergency hospital in the wake of a fatal train wreck.
