The hedge fund firm specializes in so-called "non-traditional" investments such as distressed assets (nonperforming loans, junk bonds, and bankrupt or otherwise troubled companies), arbitrage, real estate, and private equity. Its affiliates include Angelo, Gordon Advisors, which specializes in multi-manager investment portfolios, and equity investment manager AG Asset Management (formerly ForstmannLeff). Angelo, Gordon and its affiliates have about $15 billion in assets under management. The company was founded in 1988.
