Tony the Tiger hawking home furnishings might give some marketers pause, but the combination seems to work for American Furniture Warehouse. The company sells furniture and electronics at discounted prices through a dozen retail locations in Colorado and via its Web site, which also features bridal and gift registries. American Furniture's television commercials often spotlight white-haired president and CEO Jake Jabs (who has become a well-known personality in the state as well as in the home furnishings industry) accompanied by baby exotic animals, mostly tigers. Jabs bought the company in 1975.
