Happy Harry's is grinning ear-to-ear over its chain of discount drugstores. Founded in 1962 by Harry Levin as Discount Center, the company took the name Happy Harry's after customers nicknamed its owner "Happy" to reflect his personality. The company prided itself on keeping a small-town, corner store atmosphere even as, under Levin's son Alan, it grew to become the largest drugstore chain in Delaware. Happy Harry's operates some 60 Happy Harry's Discount Drug stores there and about 15 more in Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. It was acquired in mid-2006 by drugstore giant Walgreen, which bought the chain to build its presence in Delaware and surrounding areas.
