Car-X Associates seeks to exe out auto problems. Car-X serves the US with more than 175 franchised and company-owned auto service and repair shops in the Midwest. Services range from brakes and mufflers to air conditioning and windshield wiper maintenance. Customers are given free use of a rental car for up to four hours while their cars are being serviced. Ohio-based Tuffy Associates, which operates about 250 franchised and company-owned Tuffy Auto Service Centers, owns Car-X Associates which began in 1971 as a muffler shop in Hammond, Indiana.
