Square Enix develops games software for play on PCs and console systems. Titles include the successful Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Dragon Quest series, with some games available for online play, such as Final Fantasy XI, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). The Final Fantasy franchise has sold more than 80 million units while Dragon Quest (previously known as Dragon Warrior in the US) has sold more than 40 million. In addition to games, Square Enix dabbles in publishing and mobile phone content. The company was formed in 2003 with the merger of video game companies Square Co. and Enix Corporation.
