A&M specializes in M&A, along with restructuring, right-sizing, and other corporate turnaround processes. Alvarez & Marsal provides advisory and consulting services surrounding mergers and acquisitions, crisis and interim management, divestitures, performance improvement, restructuring, and strategic planning. The firm has served clients including U-Haul International parent AMERCO and underwear maker The Warnaco Group, but the biggest feather in its cap is the task of overseeing the dismantling of Lehman Brothers, which filed the largest bankruptcy filing in US history in 2008. Alvarez & Marsal has some 40 offices around the world. Co-CEOs Bryan Marsal and Tony Alvarez II started the firm in 1983.
