ATT Holding is not that mother of all phone companies, Ma Bell. Rather it could be said to be the founding father of all US lawn and garden tool manufacturing companies. ATT operates through Ames True Temper, which traces its history to 1774 and a shovel-making firm founded by Captain John Ames. It's one of the largest makers and marketers of non-powered lawn and garden tools in the US. Its products include long- and short-handle tools, lawn carts, pruning tools, wheelbarrows, hose reels, snow tools, and striking tools, as well as decorative items. ATT sells its products in the US, Canada, and Europe through large retailers (Home Depot, Sears), wholesale chains (Ace, True Value), and distributors (Grainger).
