Image Comics knows a lot about black ink figures. One of the largest comic book publishers in the US, its comics and graphic novels feature more risqué content than the traditional superhero-based books of its competitors. Titles include Spawn, Elephantmen, and Jersey Gods. The company's comics are owned solely by their creators -- Image merely provides publishing, promotion, and distribution services. Image consists of three autonomous houses: Image Central, Todd McFarlane Productions, and Top Cow. Founded in 1992 by seven of Marvel's artists, the company is owned by partners Jim Valentino, Todd McFarlane ("Spawn" creator), Erik Larsen ("Savage Dragon"), and Marc Silvestri ("Witchblade").
