Tiqit Computers may have just the ticket for mobile computer users looking for an alternative to traditional handhelds and laptops. The company's computers feature full PC functionality in a handheld-size package and run full versions of Windows, UNIX, or Linux operating systems. Utilizing a Pentium-class processor from National Semiconductor, they can run the same applications typically used on standard laptop or desktop PCs. Chairman Vaughan Pratt, a Stanford professor and veteran of Sun Microsystems, has provided early funding for the company. Tiqit was founded in 2000 and takes its name from the words "tiny" and "ubiquitous."
