Acacia Technologies Group offers shade to more than 60 patent portfolios held by Acacia Research. The group acquires and licenses patent rights to various technologies related to digital audio-on-demand and video-on-demand transmission. It markets these patents under the DMT brand to makers of electronics gear, who incorporate the technologies into applications for cable, satellite, and Internet distribution of digital content. Acacia Research created tracking stocks for Acacia Technologies and sister group CombiMatrix as part of a corporate recapitalization in 2002. Acacia Technologies has reached licensing agreements with Fujitsu, Pioneer, Sony, and Union Pacific, among other companies.
