Lumileds Lighting is helping the world take a shine to LEDs. A subsidiary of Philips Lighting, Lumileds designs and produces LED core materials and packaging which can be integrated into general lighting products. Its red, amber, blue, green, and white light-emitting diodes (LEDs), including its high-brightness LUXEON line, are used in indoor and outdoor lighting, LCD displays, traffic signals, automotive lighting, and camera flashes. Lumileds has manufacturing operations in Asia, Australia, India, and the US; it has R&D labs in California and the Netherlands. Lumileds started as a joint venture between Agilent Technologies and Philips Lighting; in 2005 Agilent sold its stake in Lumileds to Philips.
