Cimarex Energy's energy is devoted to oil and gas exploration and production. The company was formed by the spinoff of a unit of contract driller Helmerich & Payne's Cimarex Energy subsidiary and that unit's consequent acquisition of oil and gas explorer Key Production. Cimarex Energy is focusing its operations on the Midcontinent, Gulf Coast, Permian Basin, and Gulf of Mexico. The company has proved reserves of about 1.1 trillion cu. ft. of natural gas and 58.3 million barrels of oil and natural gas liquids. Cimarex Energy participated in drilling 452 gross wells during 2007.
