Southwest Recreational Industries, Inc. Company Profile
Southwest Recreational Sports got burned on artificial turf. In 2004 the company, doing business as SRI Sports, sought bankruptcy protection. SRI Sports was one of the top sports surfacing groups in the US, developing, manufacturing, and installing its own line of synthetic and natural turfs, tracks, and gym floors for indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The group was best known for making AstroTurf, which was originally developed in 1965 after the grass died in Houston's Astrodome. It sold the famed AstroTurf brand to Textile Management and Associates in 2004. The company is a subsidiary of American Sports Products Group, an engineering design company for sports facilities.
