The Kleinfelder Group isn't afraid to get its hands dirty. Since its start as a materials testing lab in 1961, the company has expanded to become one of the largest engineering consulting and design groups in the US. In addition to its traditional soil and materials testing, engineering, and inspection operations, Kleinfelder, through its subsidiaries, offers geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, construction management, and environmental services. It serves clients in the energy, education, transportation, industrial, and water markets to help establish wind farms, build underground parking garages, and more. Jim Kleinfelder, who retired in 1993, founded the employee-owned company.
