ViewAhead has its sights set on digital imaging. The company designs semiconductor chips and complementary software used in multifunction peripheral (MFP) devices that combine printer, fax, scanner, or copier functions in a single unit; single-function devices that handle just one of these tasks; digital cameras; and home networking products. ViewAhead was part of the document imaging group of communications chip maker Conexant Systems until it was spun out as a privately held company in 2001. The fabless company was founded as DeviceGuys in 1994 and acquired by Conexant in 1999. Conexant retains a partial ownership stake in ViewAhead.
