Medtronic CardioVascular strives to mend broken hearts (and clogged arteries, too). A division of medical device maker Medtronic, the unit makes products that treat conditions affecting the heart and circulatory system. Its products include stents and catheters for treating coronary and peripheral vascular conditions (such as atherosclerosis); stent grafts for fixing aortic aneurysms; products for open heart and coronary bypass surgery; mechanical and tissue heart valves; and surgical ablation technologies for treating cardiac arrythmias. Parent company Medtronic formed the division in 2007 by combining previously distinct units Medtronic Vascular and Medtronic Cardiac Surgery.
