Herstal has heaps of history behind its guns. The company, which operates through the FN Herstal and Browning units, is a top maker of firearms. Soldiers and peace officers use FN Herstal's products, which include both small-caliber firearms and mounted weapons. Among its most famous products is the FAL rifle, which have been used by fighting forces throughout the world. Herstal also makes Browning and Winchester firearms used by hunters and recreational sharpshooters. The group also offers firearm accessories, clothing for hunters, and sporting goods such as golf clubs, tennis and squash rackets, and sports bags. Herstal closed its factory in New Haven, Conn., where Winchesters had been made for 151 years, in 2006.
