At Philips many hands make light work -- "literally." Although Philips Lighting, an operating sector of Royal Philips Electronics, is the #1 household lightbulb maker in the world, it makes lights for nearly every application. The sector's products include automotive lighting, lighting for the home (fluorescent and incandescent lights, mercury vapor and sodium lamps, and other types of lightbulbs), professional lighting (ballasts and other fixtures), and light-emitting diode (LED) lighting devices. Philips Lighting also focuses on digital data projection, infrared lighting, theater lighting, and ultraviolet lights (to disinfect air and water). Lighting accounts for more than one-quarter of Philips' annual sales.
