It would take more than just a huff and a puff to blow The Brick Warehouse down. One of Canada's leading furniture, mattress, appliance, and electronics chains, the company boasts about 230 company-owned and franchised retail store locations and four distribution centers across Canada, as well as a retail Web site that offers more than 6,000 items. The retailer operates stores under five banners: The Brick, United Furniture Warehouse, The Brick Superstore, The Brick Mattress Store, and Urban Brick. The firm is owned by a holding company (The Brick Group Income Fund) created specifically in 2004 to take it public. Bill Comrie founded The Brick in 1971 with a single store.
