Polymers and additives add up to big business for Noveon International. The company operates though three segments: Specialty Materials (post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, or CPVC, resins for piping, and thermoplastic polyurethanes for plastic film and sheeting), Performance Coatings (for paper and packaging), and Consumer Specialties (acrylic thickeners and emollients). In 2006 the company sold its line of performance polymers and additives (colorants, fragrance enhancers) used in food and beverages, personal and home care products, and pharmaceuticals. Noveon's additives also are found in paints, coatings, water treatments, lubricants, and rubber. Noveon is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lubrizol.
