454 Life Sciences wants to give drug developers and other gene researchers the 411 on entire genomes. The company has developed a computer-controlled instrument and related software that enable scientists to analyze whole genomes in one fell swoop, rather than a few hundred genes at a time. Immediate parent company Roche Diagnostics distributes 454 Life Sciences' Genome Sequencing Systems to clinical laboratories, research departments of drugmakers, biodefense agencies, and other customers. The company's 454 Sequencing Center provides sequencing services directly. Roche acquired the firm from CuraGen in 2007.
