Acusphere micromanages its products, but then how else would you handle microparticles? The company uses a proprietary technology to create porous microparticles smaller than red blood cells to develop cardiovascular drugs for the detection of coronary artery disease. Its lead injectable candidate, Imagify, is in clinical trials. The company has granted the European development and marketing rights for Imagify to Nycomed Danmark ApS. It intends to seek a similar marketing partnership in the US. Additional candidates in Acusphere's pipeline include two separate drug delivery systems designed to enhance the formulation of certain cancer drugs and improve the delivery of certain asthma treatments.
