Sodisco-Howden Group distributes hardware and home improvement products to about 2,000 Canadian hardware retailers, renovation centers, and lumber and building material centers, including a network of 800-plus that carry its PRO and ACE banners. It has discontinued its Ferplus, Bātitout, and Do-It Center banners. The company bought all the shares of Ace Hardware Canada and for ten years it will pay royalties to Ace Hardware for use of the Ace name in Canada. Sodisco-Howden also distributes lumber and building materials in Quebec, Ontario, and Atlantic Canada. Vancouver-based CanWel Building Materials acquired 83% of Sodisco-Howden in December 2004 and completed the acquisition in early 2005.
