One of NEC Corporation's three operating units, NEC Networks has expertise ranging from the wireless to the weightless. While NEC's computer hardware and semiconductor units combined account for about 60% of the parent's sales, NEC Networks is a focal point in NEC's strategy to transform itself into an Internet expert. The subsidiary's products include broadband and wireless access systems for network operators and service providers, data communications and IP (Internet protocol) telephony equipment for corporations, and technology for the International Space Station. NEC Networks also offers products ranging from digital broadcasting equipment to satellite transmission systems.
