The company's Web site (it paid a whopping $7.5 million to obtain its generic domain name) features a business-oriented, editorially compiled search engine directory with listings within more than 65,000 industry categories. The site is host to some 6 million monthly unique users. The company's Work.com features "How-to Guides" for small business owners on topics such as start-up basics and management techniques. Business.com was founded in 1999 by eCompanies, an incubator formed by former Business.com CEO Jake Winebaum and EarthLink founder Sky Dayton. The company is a subsidiary of telephone-directory firm R.H. Donnelley, which filed for Chapter 11 in 2009.
