Cyclacel has found a new reason to be excited. Formerly Xcyte Therapies, the company acquired Cyclacel Group in a reverse merger early in 2006. As part of the transaction, Xcyte sold its primary technology and its assets to Invitrogen, and then it took on the name and operations of Cyclacel Group. The company's main focus is on cancer, but it is also working on treatments for inflammation, type II diabetes, and HIV/AIDS. The most advanced programs target such ailments as leukemia, lymphoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
