Crucell wants to play a crucial role in drug development. The biotech firm develops, produces, and markets vaccines and antibodies to prevent and treat infectious diseases. The company currently markets vaccines, based on its PER.C6 technology, to protect against hepatitis A and B, influenza, and typhoid. It also licenses PER.C6 to other companies, including Merck and Sanofi-Aventis, for use in areas where Crucell has chosen not to work. Crucell's pipeline includes vaccine candidates for influenza, malaria, and rabies. The company has also contracted with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to produce vaccines for the Ebola virus.
