If a phone rings in Italy, the answer may be ringing in the Wind. As the country's #3 mobile provider (more than 16 million customers) and #2 fixed-line carrier (more than 2 million), Wind Telecomunicazioni provides telecom services throughout the country. The company is also a top ISP, serving nearly 2 million dial-up and broadband subscribers. Wind sells consumer mobile services, as well as phones and accessories, under the WIND brand from more than 4,000 third-party retail locations, and about 270 Wind franchises. Fixed-line voice and Internet services are sold under the Infostrada banner. Chairman Naguib Onsi Naguib Sawiris controls the company through his 88% stake in Weather Investments which owns Wind.
