Amerisur Resources, formerly Chaco Resources, has dumped gold in favor of oil and gas. The company is primarily looking at promising exploration areas in northern Paraguay and western Colombia. With demand for oil booming, Amerisur Resources sees undeveloped areas of South America as having the best potential for liquid fuels and natural gas production. It spun off its Australian precious metal assets, including its Sardinia Gold Mining subsidiary, to a newly formed Canadian subsidiary that was merged with Full Riches Investments to form a separate company, Medoro Resources. New management took charge of Amerisur Resources in 2007.
