The meaning of LIFFE? Easy! It's the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange, one of the world's largest financial derivatives markets. (In this it vies with Deutsche Börse's Eurex and the CME Group). Operating as NYSE Liffe, the market trades an average of more than 4 million contracts carrying a value of some E1.9 trillion per day. LIFFE trades bonds, commodity instruments, equity options, and short-term interest rate and swap products via its electronic LIFFE CONNECT platform. More than 260 European equity options are traded on NYSE Liffe, including options on equities that aren't traded on NYSE Euronext.
