TYR (pronounced tier) Sport wants to ensure that swimmers are well suited for water play and sport. The company designs and makes men's, women's, and youth swimwear and related gear for professional athletes, as well as for recreational use. TYR is named after the Norse god of warriors and athletes. The firm's Aqua Shift technology is said to reduce wave drag by 10% and is worn by such swimmers as double Olympic gold medalist and eight-time world champion, Yana Klochkova, and Olympic silver medalist and US record holder, Erik Vendt. Parent company Swimwear Anywhere is the second-largest branded swimwear manufacturer in North America behind Speedo maker Warnaco Swimwear.
