Cybersurf rode the advertiser-supported Internet access wave as long as it could, but eventually switched to a subscriber-based business model. The company provides both dial-up and broadband Internet access to customers in more than 30 Canadian cities through its 3web subsidiary. 3web also sells telephone and Web hosting services. In 2005 Cybersurf acquired Avalon Works' ISP business in a deal worth a little over $2 million. The acquisition of Avalon Works' ISP subsidiary Information Gateway Services also included the ISP businesses of Worldchat, Iosphere, and Glen-Net Communications, which had all been Avalon subsidiaries.
