Large Scale Biology Corp. (LSBC) is living large with proteomics. It is using its proteomic and genomic technologies to develop therapeutics for such disease targets as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and other cancers, Fabry disease, and infectious diseases. The move to develop products is a shift for LSBC, which had focused on contract research and platform technologies such as its GENEWARE and ProGEx systems for clients such as government agencies, drugmakers, and universities. LSBC's research-grade recombinant protease inhibitor, which has orphan drug status, is sold through a unit of Sigma-Aldrich. Subsidiary Predictive Diagnostics sells cancer diagnostics that detect protein markers in blood samples.
