If Hansel and Gretel were trying to get out of a Brazilian forest, Votorantim Celulose e Papel (VCP) might suggest that they use a paper trail. The company produces coated and uncoated printing and writing paper, thermal and carbonless paper, and other specialty papers. VCP also produces short-fiber eucalyptus pulp for its own use and for sale to other paper companies. Its uncoated paper is used in copiers and laser and ink jet printers. VCP's coated paper is used in books and magazines. Although the company is publicly traded, members of the Moraes family (descendants of the founder) own all of VCP's voting shares. In September 2009 VCP acquired a majority stake in rival Aracruz Celulose.
