Oil and gas producers turn to Basic Energy Services for the fundamentals. The company provides well site services with its fleet of well-servicing rigs (at about 390, the third-largest in the US behind Key Energy Services and Nabors Industries), 645 fluid service trucks, and related equipment. These services include acidizing, cementing, fluid handling, fracing, well construction, well maintenance, and workover. Basic Energy Services serves producers operating in Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Investment firm DLJ Merchant Banking Partners III, L.P., controls the company. In 2008 Basic Energy Services agreed to be acquired by Grey Wolf, but Grey Wolf shareholders subsequently rejected the deal.
