Fleetwood Enterprises is a leading maker of manufactured housing. The company's manufactured homes feature vaulted ceilings, walk-in closets, and porches. Fleetwood operates about a dozen plants located in nine states, and it has a dealer network throughout Canada and the US. After filing for Chapter 11 protection from creditors in 2009, the company closed its unprofitable travel trailer division and sold the assets of its recreational vehicle (RV) business. Fleetwood blamed its bankruptcy filing on the recessionary conditions in the RV and travel trailer markets. Cavco Industries is buying the company's manufactured housing assets; Fleetwood is seeking sellers for the rest of its operations.
