Just as a delta is a symbol for change in math, Delta Air Lines symbolizes the changing mathematics of the airline industry. A leading US carrier, behind American and United, Delta would become the world's largest airline if it can complete a proposed combination with Northwest Airlines. On its own and through its Delta Connection regional carriers (including subsidiary Comair), Delta serves about 320 destinations in about 60 countries with a fleet of about 580 jets. It operates from hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, New York, and Salt Lake City. Delta is part of the SkyTeam marketing and code-sharing alliance (allows airlines to sell tickets on one another's flights and thus extend their networks), which includes carriers such as Air France and KLM
